The sale of homes in Catalonia rose by 5.7% in January 2019
The sale of homes in Catalonia rose by 5.7% in January compared to the same month in 2018, with 7,890 registered operations, according to data published Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Of the total transactions registered in January in the Catalan community, 83.4% corresponded to used homes, with 6,582 operations, while 1,308 operations were for the sale of new properties.
On the other hand, the INE information indicates that 91.9% of the homes sold in the first month of 2019 were free and 8.06% protected.
In the whole of Spain, the sale of homes fell 0.2% in January after nine months on the rise, the first decline since March 2018.
In January, 47,645 operations were also recorded, mostly for the sale of second-hand homes (38,386).
These data are produced after 2018 closed with an increase of 10.1% in the number of purchases, up to 515,051 transactions, the largest volume since 2008 and that meant five consecutive years up.
